In Houston, you'll be able to make the most of this year's Father's Day. On June 18th, the city will be filled to the brim with all kinds of places and offers that are perfect to celebrate with dad.
For starters, there's a fantastic opportunity for a night of classic rock with performances from Chicago and The Doobie Brothers at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands. You won't have to worry about getting in and out of the event, since you may pull an all-nighter by staying in any of the top hotels in the area that will be open for business.
The House of Blues is glad to join the fun with a Blues Brother's night, where your dad will receive a tasty brunch and a pair of complimentary sunglasses to match the vibe.
And if you want to start early, the Fab 40 will make it possible the night before (June 17th) at the Discovery Green with a performance of The Beatles' recording of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its premiere.
Trying to guess what would be a good gift for your old man can be a pain, so it may be for the best if you let him choose for himself. Luckily, there is plenty choose from in The Father's Day market sponsored by Kemah, where tens of local merchants will be selling exactly the type of things your dad might like, not to mention the food trucks and locales that they have prepared.
And if you want a more regular shopping experience, you can go to Manready Mercantile and find vintage clothing and accessories suited for an older gentleman's taste. And if you think finding the perfect might be a little too difficult, you can always let him make his own gift at Glass Blowing Houston in their special Father's Day glass blowing workshop!
You could always go classic with your dad and take him to one of the many breweries in Houston. There you will find tasty food, good times and great drinks. You could also go to the Flying Saucer Downtown where there will be a Special Father's Day event with lots of craft beer and food to go around while you enjoy the comings and goings of Main Street.
The Houstonian will also be holding "A Prime Father's Day" where there will be a special event of carving. And if your dad is better at eating than cooking, there are a whopping 20 BBQ locations in the city as well as many top steakhouses with the some of the best meat dishes Texas has to offer.
If tradition's your thing, there are few things more traditional for a Father's Day celebration than a ball game with pops. The Houston Astros will be playing the Red Sox that day inside Minute Maid Park, which just added a ShakeShack burger place and a Torchy's Tacos, as well as extra outfield seats. Oh, and before the game, be sure to stop by the Astros’ team shop so you can outfit him with a jersey and a hat to support his team!
You could also challenge your father to a golfing match in Top Golf. The complex features food, drinks, and plenty of golfing experiences to boot. If he has some fuel on his veins, get him a luxury ride from the vehicles at Houston Luxury Car Rentals and take a ride around town, or maybe just race him at the K1 Speed Houston kart racetrack.
And if you want to turn up the action to eleven, the Blue Skies Skydiving Center at Crystal Beach is the perfect place to get that adrenaline pumping. You and your dad will jump from a plane while attached to an instructor that will help you get a perfect view of the coast while you plunge from the skies. Pretty exciting, huh?
As you can see, this beautiful city has a lot to offer you and your dad. So, take care of your old man and give him a Father's Day celebration he'll never forget!
